La pandemia generada por la covid-19provocó que las instituciones educativas migraran del aprendizaje presencial alaprendizaje virtual, lo cual representó un desafío de gran magnitud, sobre todoen países de América Latina donde el acceso a recursos digitales es limitado.La situación de confinamiento y el cambio en las rutinas académicas generódificultades relacionadas con la salud mental y emocional de estudiantes yprofesores, ya que tuvieron que adaptarse a una metodología de enseñanza yaprendizaje diferente, donde las relaciones sociales y actividades académicasse restringieron al interior del hogar, provocando la aparición de diferentesestresores como dificultades de concentración, interacción constante con todoslos miembros de la familia, ausencia de actividades de ocio, miedo por la saludfísica, aumento de la carga laboral, incapacidad para distinguir entreactividades personales y actividades académicas o laborales, entre otras. Deesta manera las instituciones educativas tuvieron que prestar mayor atención ala situación emocional de sus estudiantes y docentes para contribuir a lasolución de cualquier dificultad que se pudiera presentar. En las institucioneseducativas el énfasis principal es ayudar a que los estudiantes logren resultadosacadémicos satisfactorios, por lo cual la mayoría de los procesos y estrategiasse concentran en hacer un seguimiento de carácter académico y en algunasoportunidades se realiza acompañamiento de tipo psicológico, sin embargo, no serealiza un seguimiento riguroso sobre el bienestar emocional y mental. Siendoeste el caso del colegio Nuevo Gimnasio School de la ciudad de Villavicencio.Con el propósito de que el colegio NuevoGimnasio School pueda evaluar el bienestar emocional de estudiantes y docentesde secundaria, así como su incidencia en el rendimiento académico, el presentetrabajo de grado propone el diseñó de un sistema de información que permiteestablecer planes de atención a nivel emocional para alumnos y profesores detal manera que el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes obtenga resultadosfavorables. Para ello se desarrolló un modelo de regresión logística binariaque permite establecer la relación entre el rendimiento académico de losestudiantes y su bienestar emocional. La evaluación del modelo permitió obtener33 variables relacionadas con el bienestar emocional que predicen elrendimiento académico de los estudiantes con una tasa de acierto del 74%.Adicionalmente se desarrolló una encuesta para estudiantes, correspondiente alas variables encontradas con el modelo de regresión, y una encuesta paraevaluar el bienestar emocional de los docentes. Los datos obtenidos medianteestos instrumentos fueron el insumo para que el sistema proporcione reportessobre el rendimiento académico y el bienestar emocional de estudiantes ydocentes.El sistema de información también vincula elrendimiento académico del alumno con la situación emocional del docente alidentificar si la baja satisfacción que reporta un estudiante con alguna asignaturainvolucra el hecho de que el profesor que la imparte tiene dificultades a nivelemocional. De igual manera el sistema proporciona una serie de alertas yreportes tanto del estado emocional de docentes y estudiantes como delrendimiento académico de los alumnos. El sistema presenta recomendacionesrelacionadas con las variables en riesgo de tal manera que la institución tengaun plan de acción que mejore el bienestar emocional de estudiantes y docentes yasí contribuir al proceso de aprendizaje y enseñanza, lo cual se traduce enresultados favorables en cuanto al rendimiento académico de los estudiantes. Deigual manera el sistema de información permite evaluar la situación emocionalde los docentes y estudiantes, así como obtener un panorama sobre el rendimientoacadémico de los alumnos en cualquier momento ya que la información presentadase ajusta de manera automática a los datos ingresados por el usuario.Finalmente, el sistema propuesto presenta la información al usuario a través dedashboard y reportes fáciles de comprender e interpretar, siendo intuitivo yfácil de manejar para los usuarios.
Abstract
The pandemic generated by covid-19 caused educational institutions to migrate from face-to-face learning to virtual learning, which represented a challenge of great magnitude, especially in Latin American countries where access to digital resources is limited. The confinement situation and the change in academic routines generated difficulties related to the mental and emotional health of students and teachers, since they had to adapt to a different teaching and learning methodology, where social relationships and academic activities were restricted to the interior home, causing the appearance of different stressors such as concentration difficulties, constant interaction with all family members, absence of leisure activities, fear of physical health, increased workload, inability to distinguish between personal activities and academic or work activities, among others. In this way, educational institutions had to pay greater attention to the emotional situation of their students and teachers to contribute to the solution of any difficulties that might arise. In educational institutions, the main emphasis is to help students achieve satisfactory academic results, for which most of the processes and strategies are focused on monitoring of an academic nature and in some opportunities psychological monitoring is carried out, however, emotional and mental well-being is not rigorously monitored. This being the case of the Nuevo Gimnasio School in the city of Villavicencio.In order for the Nuevo Gimnasio School to be able to evaluate the emotional well-being of high school students and teachers, as well as its impact on academic performance, this degree project proposes the design of an information system that allows the establishment of care plans on an emotional level for students and teachers in such a way that the academic performance of students obtain favorable results. For this, a binary logistic regression model was developed that allows establishing the relationship between students' academic performance and their emotional well-being. The evaluation of the model allowed obtaining 33 variables related to emotional well-being that predict the academic performance of students with a 74% success rate. Additionally, a survey was developed for students, corresponding to the variables found with the regression model, and a survey to evaluate the emotional well-being of teachers. The data obtained through these instruments were the input for the system to provide reports on the academic performance and emotional well being of students and teachers.The information system also links the student's academic performance with the teacher's emotional situation by identifying whether the low satisfaction reported by a student with any subject involves the fact that the teacher who teaches it has emotional difficulties. Likewise, the system provides a series of alerts and reports on both the emotional state of teachers and students and the academic performance of the students. The system presents recommendations related to the variables at risk in such a way that the institution has an action plan that improves the emotional well-being of students and teachers and thus contributes to the learning and teaching process, which translates into favorable results in terms of academic performance of students. Similarly, the information system allows evaluating the emotional situation of teachers and students, as well as obtaining an overview of the academic performance of students at any time since the information presented is automatically adjusted to the data entered by the user. Finally, the proposed system presents the information to the user through a dashboard and reports that are easy to understand and interpret, being intuitive and easy for users to handle.
