Political relations between the United States and China during the mandate of Donald Trump and Xi Jinping in the period of 2016-2020Resumen
Esta investigación presenta un análisis cualitativo de las dinámicas políticas entre China y Estados Unidos durante los gobiernos de Donald Trump y Xi Jinping, -además de un acápite a futuro de cómo serán esas relaciones en la administración de Joe Biden-, con la finalidad de analizar si las dinámicas de enemistad que históricamente han desarrollado estas dos potencias, les han representado beneficios económicos, geopolíticos y estratégicos y de esa forma, les permiten afianzar aún más su posición en el Sistema Internacional. De esa manera, se analizan las dinámicas políticas desde la guerra fría hasta el 2016, su política exterior y el quebranto de las relaciones políticas con las medidas impuestas por el expresidente Donald Trump, de la mano de la teoría de la estabilidad hegemónica, y conceptos como el nacionalismo, la hegemonía y la desconfianza estratégica. Se incluye, además, el análisis de situaciones coyunturales como la guerra comercial, el COVID-19, el medio ambiente y las disputas por los territorios y soberanía de Taiwán y Hong Kong, con lo cual se pretende brindar un panorama completo de la complejidad de las relaciones entre Washington y Beijín.
Abstract
This research presents a qualitative analysis of the political dynamics between China and the United States during the governments of Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, as well as a future section on how these relations will be with the new administration of Joe Biden, in order to analyze whether The dynamics of enmity that these two powers have historically developed have represented economic, geopolitical and strategic benefits for them and thus further strengthen their position in the International System. In this way, the political dynamics from the cold war to 2016, its foreign policy and the breakdown of political relations with the measures imposed by former President Donald Trump are analyzed, this hand in hand with approaches such as stability theory hegemonic, nationalism, hegemony and strategic distrust as relevant elements for the development of this research. Including the analysis of conjunctural situations such as the trade war, COVID-19, the environment and disputes over the territories and sovereignty of Taiwan and Hong Kong, which is intended to provide a complete picture of the complexity of relations between Washington and Beijing.
