Design of management indicators to evaluate the communities of practiceResumen
Abstract
The essential thing about the CoP is to abstract the dynamics of knowledge, allowing the creation of adequate channels in which each one can develop their skills and abilities that contribute to the creation of its formal structure (Johnson & Bingle, 2020). As described above, the problem that is identified is the lack of knowledge or misinformation about those mechanisms used by the CoPs to achieve good performance, in other words, in the CoPs the steps that must be executed to achieve good performance have not been clearly determined. success within them.
On the other hand, when measuring the performance of the CoPs, variables focused on the response of members on a specific topic, the number of participations or users who attend or the satisfaction of individuals are being taken into account. Some factors have even been identified that affect the intention towards knowledge sharing. However, these measures have done little to demonstrate the contribution of CoPs to their members or to the organization to which they belong. Therefore, it is not yet possible to measure the current performance of a CoP and equate it with the objectives set for that CoP.
In order to respond to this situation, a series of factors were identified that, according to the bibliographic review and direct observation, are the main aspects that affect the development and effectiveness of a Community of Practice. Once these factors have been identified, a survey applied to the members of the CoP, once these data are obtained, a basic inference study is carried out, in which a series of dependent variables is explained by a series of independent variables.
On the other hand, an analysis of Multiple Correspondences is made, statistics to discover the relationship between qualitative categorical variables, for this case an analysis of factor six, level of participation, was carried out with respect to the others, since this is the primary factor to fulfill our main objective.
Finally, a tool is presented, whose function is to measure the effectiveness of different Communities of Practice, for the use of the tool it is necessary to insert the survey data, once this is done, the tool will transform said data and deliver a radial diagram together with others graphs that will help to know in which factors there are opportunities for improvement.
For this CoP, it was found that the factor on General Competence has the greatest opportunity for improvement, while the factor on participation is the best valued, which is very favorable since one of the main aspects that helps make the CoP more effectiveness, working in favor of fulfilling the objective of said Community, is the participation of the members.
Finally, this design complies with the ISO 9001 2015 standard (section 6.0 to 6.3 and 9.0) and the NTP 283 survey standard, which makes the design acceptable.
