Policarpa Salavarrieta es sin duda la heroína más conocida y popular para los colombianos. Representa una imagen femenina, mayormente opuesta a la tradicional de su época: Era una mujer luchadora, activa y valiente. Además, es la única figura femenina que acude de inmediato a la memoria al pensar en el período de la Independencia.
Este balance historiográfico fue realizado con el interés de determinar cómo se ha ido construyendo con solidez histórica, con el paso de los años, la imagen de Policarpa Salavarrieta como la principal heroína nacional. Esto, a partir de una serie de registros historiográficos que fueron debidamente seleccionados, analizados y estructurados en tres categorías: El concepto de cadalso, El concepto de héroes y heroínas, y Los estudios de género. Dichas categorías fueron establecidas como hilo conductor del balance en sí.
Abstract
Policarpa Salavarrieta is definitely the most known and popular heroine in Colombian society. Represents a mostly opposed female image to the traditional in her time: She was a fighter, brisk and brave woman. Also, she is the only female figure who comes immediately to memory when you are thinking about Independence period.
This historiographic balance was done with the interest of determining how it has been built with historical solidity, over the years, the Policarpa Salavarrieta’s image as the main national heroine. Taking into account a series of historiographic records which were duly selected, analyzed and structured in three categories: The concept of scaffold. The concept of heroes and heroines. And Gender studies. These categories were established as a common thread of the balance.
