Vuelta a Colombia amateur : Regional Identities and Rivalries (1951-1983)Resumen
El proyecto de investigación analiza algunos aspectos regionales que caracterizaron a la Vuelta a Colombia durante su etapa amateur entre 1951 y 1983. Desde un enfoque cultural y teniendo en cuenta algunos postulados de la historia regional se abordan temas tales como: la identificación de los corredores con el territorio y los habitantes del departamento por el cual competían; el compromiso anímico y económico de los patrocinadores y aficionados con los ciclistas que los representaban a ellos y al departamento en la carrera; y la relación estrecha entre los pedalistas, entendidos estos como héroes regionales, y sus paisanos basada en la reciprocidad y en la correspondencia de intereses dentro de la competencia. Estos aspectos permiten tanto indagar sobre la dimensión regional presente en las diferentes ediciones amateur del evento, como entender los procesos colectivos de identificación que se constituyeron en torno al ciclismo a partir de la Vuelta a Colombia.
Abstract
The research project analyzes some regional aspects that characterized the Vuelta a Colombia during its amateur stage between 1951 and 1983. From a cultural approach and taking into account some postulates of regional history, we will address issues such as: the identification of the riders with the territory and the people of the department for which they competed; the emotional and economic commitment of the sponsors and fans with the cyclists who represented them and the department in the race; and the close relationship between the riders, understood as regional heroes, and the people of their own territory based on reciprocity and the correspondence of interests within the competition. These aspects allow us to investigate the regional dimension present in the different amateur editions of the event, as well as to understand the collective processes of identification that were constituted around cycling from the Vuelta a Colombia.
