Lili Elbe (1882-1931): la resignificación de las fronteras del testimonio, el género y el cuerpo

Este trabajo propone una aproximación y análisis del género literario testimonial y sus limitaciones, al igual que las deficiencias y/o carencias lingüísticas que condicionan y permean el imaginario social de nuestra actualidad, especialmente en términos y conceptos referentes a las identidades disidentes alrededor del mundo. Este trabajo analiza la obra de Lili Elbe, "Man Into Woman" (1933), que fue la primera persona europea en someterse a una cirugía de cambio de sexo y cómo su libro rompió las fronteras establecidas en el género testimonial, y también en el vocabulario e imaginario que rigen y condicionan a la sociedad. Se dialoga con autores expertos en el área de estudios de la sexualidad como Judith Butler, AnnaMarie Jagose o Amalia Fischer, así como con académicos del género testimonial o biográfico como John Beverley. Así, este trabajo propone analizar el lenguaje como condicionante y limitante social que genera extrañeza y rechazo a la comunidad Queer y a los cuerpos e identidades disidentes, así como cuestionar las fronteras establecidas en el género testimonial y biográfico.

Abstract

This research proposes an approximation and analysis of the literary genre of testimony and its limitations as well as the linguistic shortage and deficiencies that condition and influence the contemporary social imaginary, specially through terms and concepts that refer to dissident identities around the world. This thesis analyses Lili Elbe's testimony, "Man Into Woman" (1933), the first European woman to undergo a change of sex procedure whose work broke and surpassed the stablished frontiers of literary testimony as well as the vocabulary and imaginary that govern and condition society. This work converses with expert authors in sexuality studies like Judith Butler, AnnaMarie Jagose or Amalia Fischer, or with literally testimonies academics like John Beverley. Thus, this research proposes an analysis of language as a social conditioning and limiting tool that produces and encourages estrangement and denial towards the Queer community, and dissident bodies and identities. Likewise, the research questions stablished frontiers in the literary world.
