Entre la esclavitud y la libertad : una representación de las comunidades negras insulares en la literatura de Hazel Robinson

Este trabajo tiene como fin aproximarse a la representación de las comunidades afro insulares en el siglo XIX de San Andrés y Providencia en la literatura de autores de la misma región, específicamente Hazel Robinson. A través de términos como negritud, antillanidad y criollización se explora cómo se ha configurado la sociedad actual y multicultural por medio de las migraciones que aparecen desde el inicio de la colonia. Para lograrlo, este proyecto plantea un diálogo con otros teóricos caribeños y antillanos como Aimé Césaire, Frantz Fanon y Édouard Glissant. Esta investigación se divide en tres capítulos: el primero de ellos aborda el estado actual de la literatura insular y la incidencia de Hazel Robinson en ella. El segundo apartado explora las comunidades esclavas negras y mestizas en la colonia, y por último con la abolición de la esclavitud se analizan las bases de la primera sociedad insular.

Abstract

This work aims to approach the representation of the Afro-Insular communities in the 19th century of San Andrés and Providencia in the literature of authors from the same region, specifically Hazel Robinson. Through terms such as blackness, antilleanity and creolization, it is explored how the current and multicultural society has been configured through the migrations that have appeared since the beginning of the colony. To achieve this, this project proposes a dialogue with other Caribbean and Antillean theorists such as Aimé Césaire, Frantz Fanon and Édouard Glissant. This research is divided into three chapters: the first addresses the current state of island literature and the impact of Hazel Robinson on it. The second section explores the black and mestizo slave communities in the colony, and finally, with the abolition of slavery, the foundations of the first island society are analyzed.
