De una actividad que de malo parece tener solo el nombre. Un estudio acerca de las perspectivas del contrabando de víveres y abarrotes en Ipiales, Nariño

El contrabando es una actividad que posiblemente se encuentre presente en todas las fronteras del mundo, compartiendo de forma general el ser un acto ilegal sin mayor debate. Sin embargo, existe un tipo de contrabando que parece querer debatir con esta generalidad: el contrabando de víveres y abarrotes que se desarrolla en la ciudad de Ipiales, Nariño. Este trabajo investigativo tiene como objetivo conocer las perspectivas de las personas que comparten el contrabando de víveres y abarrotes de Ipiales, ciudad que se encuentra ubicada estratégicamente sobre la frontera entre Colombia y Ecuador. En el desarrollo de esta investigación se dan a conocer las percepciones que tres grupos de personas (trabajadores y comerciantes, consumidores de víveres y abarrotes e internautas), tienen sobre este tipo de contrabando, mientras las contrastan con conceptos como el trabajo, el gusto, el precio, la necesidad y el impacto que tiene esta actividad en la ciudad. De esta manera, estas personas entran a dialogar con el tema de la ilegalidad, debatiendo con este hasta el punto de legitimar una actividad que comparten y hace parte de su cotidianidad.

Abstract

Smuggling is an activity that is possibly present on all the borders of the world, generally sharing the status of being an illegal act without further debate. However, there is a type of smuggling that seems to want to debate with this generality: the smuggling of food and groceries that takes place in the city of Ipiales, Nariño. This investigative work aims to know the perspectives of the people who share in the smuggling of food and groceries in Ipiales, a city that is strategically located on the border between Colombia and Ecuador. In the development of this research, the perceptions that three groups of people (workers and merchants, food and grocery consumers, and Internet users) have about this type of smuggling are revealed, while contrasting them with concepts such as work, taste, the price, the need and the impact that this activity has on the city. In this way, these people enter into dialogue with the issue of illegality, debating with it to the point of legitimizing an activity that they share and that is part of their daily lives.
