dc.description.abstract	Los cuidados paliativos en América Latina están evolucionando, pero la capacitación de los cuidadores informales sigue sin explorarse. Esta revisión resume las intervenciones recientes para educar o capacitar a los cuidadores en los cuidados al final de la vida. Hallazgos recientes La búsqueda bibliográfica identificó tres intervenciones publicadas hasta 2023, dos con evaluaciones de recepción, todas con tamaños de muestra pequeños y sin grupos de control. Las necesidades de los cuidadores se han descrito con mayor frecuencia e incluyen capacitación sobre aspectos de la enfermedad, habilidades de enfermería, cómo manejar las emociones de los pacientes y las propias; ayuda para navegar por los complejos sistemas de salud en América Latina; ayuda en conversaciones sobre el final de la vida y la muerte, aún tabúes en la región; ayuda para encontrar cuidadores adicionales u otros tipos de apoyo para que el rol de cuidador sea sostenible en el tiempo para el cuidador. Las intervenciones se centraron principalmente en el apoyo emocional y la identificación de cuidadores adicionales sin culpa; dos incluyeron capacitación en habilidades de enfermería. Resumen En América Latina, existen muy pocas intervenciones formales descritas y evaluadas para ayudar a los cuidadores en los cuidados al final de la vida. Esto ilustra el papel bastante invisible pero muy importante de estos actores clave en el cuidado de los pacientes. dc.description.abstractenglish	Purpose of review Palliative care in Latin America is evolving, but training for informal caregivers remains underexplored. This review summarizes recent interventions to educate or train caregivers in end-of-life care. Recent findings The literature search identified three interventions published by 2023, two with reception evaluations, all with small sample sizes and no control groups. Needs of caregivers have been more frequently described and include training on aspects of the disease, nursing skills, how to handle patients´ and own emotions; help in navigating the complex healthcare systems in Latin America; help in conversations about the end of life and dying, still taboos in the region; help in finding additional caregivers or other types of support to make the caregiving role sustainable over time for the caregiver. Interventions mainly focused on emotional support and identifying additional caregivers without guilt; two included nursing skills training. Summary There are very few formal interventions described and evaluated to assist caregivers in end-of-life care in Latin America described in the literature. This illustrates the rather invisible but very important role of these important stakeholders in the care for patients.
