"Faced with the analysis of the virtue of courage in the work of Plato, available to the students of the A thenian philosopher, we hardly find any that considers the inherent difficulties and problems that ""traditional"" interpretation of the philosopher s mental development have. Therefore, this thesis provides a reading that addresses and confronts the serious consequences that traditional hermeneutics derives on its conclusions on the virtue of courage and the value of the corpus. Therefore, I propose an 'erotic' analysis of the virtue of courage which is not only consistent with a hermeneutical approach that realizes the erotic ""nature"" of the corpus and philosophy, but its result. Indeed, this analysis shows that the courageous action of the erotic hero is expressed in the continued exercise which maintains the dialectical tension proper of the Search of Good, making of Socrates the most righteous man and emphasizing the value of his life as a role model (Phaedo, 118c). Finally, the analysis has its proof stone (basanos) in the Republic, for as the idea of the Good provides drive to the virtues, the Republic gives the unifying closure to the erotic reading of courage, walking the long way of the corpus and finding the value of the philosopher in the service of the Good: going back into the cave."
