Abstract
The research that we presented, aimed to analyze autonomous learning in tenth grade students, from two district educational institutions, before and after the application of teaching activities designed to bring students to the five categories proposed by Aebli (2001) in the basic forms of autonomous learning, and supported both in cooperative learning and in the contextualization of chemistry through knowledge of the substances present in industrialized foods. Where we observed that students, for the most part, evidenced the ability to establish contact with things and ideas, understand phenomena and texts, and plan actions to solve for themselves. Although, they were hindered by the ability to exercise activities on their own. It should be noted that they achieved in their entirety to maintain the motivation for activity and learning, which represents that both the contextualization of science and teamwork favor autonomous learning. However, it is necessary to bring to the classroom constantly activities with these characteristics to achieve permanent reflective processes that could change that student's passive role and increase their interest in learning.
