Sommario

This text refers to the investigation of high-rise housing in Bogotá, capital of Colombia. It clarifies the concept of this type of housing and its requirements, to understand the depth of the relationship between it and those who inhabit it. the current panorama of the families that inhabit this type of housing, their needs and the appropriation of the houses is made known.
Based on the future housing needs of the families that inhabit the different types of dwellings in height, international references of housing were analyzed with emphasis on spatial expansion and progressive housing.
One of these architectural referents was the winner of the Pritzker Prize for Architecture, the Chilean, Alejandro Aravena, which refers to progressive housing with the argument of what: "a building blocks the growth of housing. That's true, except on the first and last floors; the first floor can always grow horizontally on the ground that is close by and the top floor can always grow vertically into the air. What we did then was to make a building that had only the first and the last floor "(Aravena, 2003).
Given the above, it is recognized that the possible solutions to design a house adapted to the growth of the families that inhabit it, could also be given in apartments with future spatial growth, as it is in the case of the Architectural reference: Apartment Building Gifu Kitagata , Motosu, by the Architect Kazuyo Sejima. Japan (1994-1998). Where it explains that the progressivity in height can be given by means of general characteristics such as a set of apartments systematically arranged as standard, with spaces predisposed to the growth of both empty and inhabited apartments, giving random combinations by means of the appropriation of the residents in the housing complex, thus removing monotony to the complex. The question to this problematic would be: What should be the spatial characteristics of the types of housing in height in Bogota?
The project seeks to respond to this by means of which, in the design of the characteristics of the projected homes, they will have an expansion and spatial appropriation, both vertically and horizontally, that respond to the ways of inhabiting by the Colombian families.
