Abstract
As the years go by, the population in the department of Cundinamarca becomes old and currently has an aging index of 42%, which according to Dane's projections for 2020 will be around 50%. For this reason, measures must be taken with the elderly population of Bogotá and the surrounding municipalities.
As a degree project, an integral wellness equipment is planned that expands the healthy life expectancy, productivity and quality of life of this specific population group, recognizes it and is a contribution to generate an equitable and inclusive city as described in District Agreement 254 of 2006.
The project is located in Vereda el Canelón in the municipality of Cajicá _ Cundinamarca.
In a private lot that is part of the complex of Fagua farms, rich in water bodies and forest reserves. It is adjacent to different rural housing estates, to Hacienda Fagua, a colonial house restored and adapted to offer all the comforts and services to develop social and business events, and finally to Fundación la Manuelita, a non-profit organization founded by Zoilo Cuellar Sierra in 1915 that has remained from generation to generation offering unprotected and abandoned grandparents a more dignified and happy life.
"Architecture for the elderly must be a good combination of architecture for leisure and therapeutic architecture.
The design of the project is carried out from the arduous analysis of the axes, geographical qualities, geometries and dimensions of the context, achieving that the proportion of the five proposed buildings (5) only generated the continuation and progression of the rural environment, replacing and giving even more natural elements to the place of implantation.
Among the specific objectives, the project is focused on generating spaces that allow the reception of the elderly and the development of their physical activities and leisure, on the other hand, to encourage the development of social activities and meetings between both resident and external elderly as well as with families and the community in order to integrate and be included in society.
In addition, the same design and psychology of shapes, colors and materials, the structural system, circulations, lighting, temperature management and the architectural program itself, allow and encourage the user to use his free time in a therapeutic way without being imposed.
In terms of housing buildings, the project provides permanent accommodation and comprehensive and continuous care to older adults who are unable to remain in their home or who do not have one. These establishments respond to different requirements depending on the type of people they serve. For this purpose, 3 different types of residence were developed, which are determined according to the physical and social conditions of each user.
In these three blocks flexible apartments are developed, because as people age, their personalities go definiendo being this the main characteristic of differentiation between them, which is why the spaces are thought for different tastes and needs. At the same time, we think of the motor and cognitive abilities that the elderly begin to lose, so that spaces seek to generate greater security (shelter), greater stability and mainly to make them feel more autonomous and independent.
On the other hand, the project is related to its environment by opening the titled "Taller de Oficios"; which is the block that contains all the common areas to the older adults of the Bogotá savannah who in some way find themselves in need of receiving temporary entertainment and care (Centro Día) or medical attention according to each of the diagnoses or conditions free of charge.
The project is developed in the form of a hand, sheltering the water and vegetable bodies of the context, and is thought from different ecological strategies that integrate it within the category of self-sustainable and eco-productive buildings giving support to the importance of the relationship between nature and this population group.
