The Venezuelan migration in Colombia : a pastoral challenge for the ScalabriniansSommario

From the reality of Bogotá - Colombia, in these recent years, we can easily meet the coming of thousands of Venezuelans or also the Colombians, who were living for many years in Venezuela. In fact, the seriousness of the immigration phenomenon is real, however, the Church, who is a Mother as well, cannot stay far from her children. So that, She should work on their behalf, approach more to the context; offer the criterions to discern for a transformation of the reality. This paper makes the effort to comprehend and to respond to this issue from a moral social vision.
There is a Religious Congregation called the Missionaries of Saint Charles Borromeo – Scalabrini, which has as its charisma encountering God through the service of the emigrants. Theologically speaking, we can say that to emigrate has many meanings; some of these are hope and liberty. We can recognize that in the history of the Salvation, for instance, in order to reach the Promised Land, the Israelites had to leave Egypt and to emigrate.
This essay is an interdisciplinary study between theology and sociology, presenting an analysis of the moral and pastoral guidelines which aims to be a useful tool to work with the communities which are receiving emigrants.
