| dc.description.abstract | En el presente artículo se exponen los pormenores de la construcción de la Catedral y la Iglesia de Santo Domingo en la ciudad colombiana de Cartagena de Indias. Las dos construcciones analizadas fueron trazadas y empezadas a edificar en el siglo XVI con claros referentes e influencias españoles. Ambas iglesias conservan buena parte de los elementos arquitectónicos, técnicos, espaciales y decorativos con los que fueron concebidos, a pesar del paso del tiempo y de las modificaciones que han sufrido a lo largo de la historia. Así mismo, ambas están declaradas como Bienes de Interés Cultural de carácter nacional. Resulta especialmente interesante el rastreo de los antecedentes y referencias, ibéricas e hispanoamericanas, que se evidencian en otras edificaciones relativamente contemporáneas. También es sorprendente observar la influencia temprana de los tratados de arquitectura, en especial de II qvattro libri dell'architettura, de Andrea Palladio, que fueron publicados inicialmente en Venecia, en 1570. Las particulares condiciones de Cartagena de Indias, de los materiales constructivos y del personal encargado de las obras, con sus grandes dificultades económicas y técnicas, marcaron las arquitecturas de estas dos valiosas edificaciones, concebidas congrandes pretensiones y construidas con grandes dificultadesen medio de una marcada pobreza de medios. | spa |
| dc.description.abstractenglish | This article exposes building details of the Cathedral and the church of Santo Domingo, in the Colombian city of Cartagena de Indias. This two analyzed churches were planned the same as the beginning of the construction in the 16th century, having clear Spanish influences. Both churches preserve good part of the architectural, technical, spatial and decorative elements with those which were conceived, in spite of the passage of time and the modifications that have suffered throughout the time. Likewise, both are declared as Goods of Cultural Interest of National Character. There turns out to be specially interesting the tracking of the precedents and references, Iberian and Spanish-American, that are observed in other relatively contemporary buildings. It is also surprising to detect the early influences of architectural treatises, specially I quattro libri dell'architettura, by Andrea Palladio, published initially in Venice 1.570. The particular conditions of the city, the raw materials and the personnel in charge of the works, with their big economic and technical difficulties; marked the architecture of these two valuable buildings, conceived with big pretensions and constructed with big difficulties and a marked lack of means. | eng |
