dc.description.abstractEste artículo se preocupa por cómo los letrados colombianos de la segunda mitad del siglo xix utilizaron su acceso a la escritura para narrar la nación y construir los sujetos/objetos que estaban adentro/afuera de la temporalidad y espacialidad nacional. Esta narración tuvo dos ejes centrales: la relación de continuidad que se establecía entre el territorio y la población, y la negación de la contemporaneidad a aquellas poblaciones que representaban la alteridad racial. Ambos ejes exacerbaron la diferencia, pues, la atracción a la nación en proceso de civilización requería de su alejamiento previo; la prescripción de la homogeneidad y la proscripción de la heterogeneidad tenían a su vez, como condición de posibilidad la descripción recurrente de la alteridad.spa
dc.description.abstractenglishThis article concerns how the learned Colombian intellectuals used their writing proficiency during the second half of the 19th century to tell the story of our country and construct the subjects/objects which were inside/outside the nation’s temporality and space. This narrative had two main axes: the continuity of the relationship established between the territory and its inhabitants, and/or the denial of the contemporaneity owed to those populations which represented racial otherness. Both axes exacerbated the difference, since the need to attract to the nation’s ‘civilizing’ process demanded the previous rift or withdrawal of one or the other; yet the prescription of homogeneity and the simultaneous proscription of heterogeneity had, as condition for their possibility, recourse to the reiterated description of alterity..eng
