| dc.description.abstract | El texto analiza, si la bioética puede ser considerada disciplina o ciencia, teniendo en cuenta origen, conceptualización, método y aplicación. Para tal fin, retoma las consideraciones de famosos bioeticistas que han hablado sobre el tema: Potter, Callahan, Hellegers, Abel y Cely, entre otros. Concluye, como dice Alfonso Borrero, S.J., que es una disciplina que se basa en las ciencias y que se relaciona con ellas en forma independiente, con el fin de analizar y tomar decisiones sobre los problemas y siutaciones que afectan la vida en el planeta; resaltando que tanto el científico, como el bioeticista son responsables de todo conocimiento científico aplicable a los valores y derechos más preciados de la existencia, permitir y desear vivir con calidad y morir con dignidad.
